Dead but Alive
Let it die
she said and he did,
in the deepest corner,
of his heart he buried
what was once their love
with his bare hands
he put it to rest
but once in a while,
it rears is ugly head
like the ghost
the undead
it rises from that corner
its rotting dead flesh
for everyone to see
what is wrong
they say
for there is still the smile
that plays on the lips
but doesn't light the eyes.
