Just Because

Just because I am not needy
doesn't mean I don't feel left out.
Just because I am quiet and calm often,
doesn't mean I don't want to shout.

For even if not all the time,
sometimes, I still do.
My heart can get broken, dear,
its a fragile thing too!

OK OK, I will not show it,
especially not if I can
but how long do I hold it in?
How long do I be that man?

For God, oh, this burden
sometimes it too much to bear
To know i have disappeared for you,
when you exist everywhere!

Window Dressings

Oh you poor mannequin,
stiff, dressed.
People admire you,
envy even
but no one takes you home.

you sit there
on your window sill,
the world moves on,
you are
forever still.

your expressionless face
and your dead eyes
stare at the world
with silent screams
that cannot be heard

but loud it is,
for sometimes
it shatters the plastic
and lays bare
what you really are.

broken,
held together by tapes,
the fancy clothes,
just a cover
behind which you hide.

Journeyman

I thought you were my world,
but nope,
you were not even an island
for me to rest,
you were a harbor at best,
the one with vibrant colors and cuisine
to be sampled,
but not to be taken home.
No souvenirs,
No postcards.
just memories that linger,
and the faded,distant smells,
that remind you of once upon a time.

Fire and Fire and Fire

Sometime the flames of desire,
it sets your soul on fire,
and sometimes jealousy,
It reduces you to ashes,

But when our life flashes,
right before our eyes.
we will cherish the truths,
and forget the lies,

We will keep what we earned,
not what we yearned,
forget our mistakes,
keep the lessons learned.

For fickle is life,
too hard to dwell.
what tomorrow brings,
no one can tell.

We just open our heart,
and duck or embrace
at what life throws at us,
hopefully with a smile on our face.!!

Elusive

How hard can it be?
that I cannot even find,
this elusive thing
this peace of mind?

Thoughts after thoughts,
they pop into my head,
leaving me tossing and turning,
alone in my bed.

These thoughts, they goad me,
call me a fool,
They test my patience,
I try not to lose my cool.

I wish these thoughts,
would leave me alone.
but they are all that I am left with,
now that you are gone.

Miss Magic

Miss Magic.

Miss Magic Miss Magic
where do u take your magic spell?
I thought I was the one bewitched
but now I cannot tell.

Miss magic Miss magic,
Is there a potion or a drink?
Give me a shot or a spell
and pull me from the brink.

Miss magic miss magic,
where do you go?
You take the colors from my life,
just so that you know.

Miss magic miss magic,
you spread your wings and fly,
There is pixie dust in my eyes.
And all i do is cry.

Miss magic Miss magic,
I don't know what to say.
I just wish you would fold your wings
and with me you would stay.

why so negative!?

Just ranting guys you have been warned

Is negativity a predominant human trait?
What is with all this negativity?

Take for example the recent ALS ice bucket challenge. On the one hand, I don't approve of people aping current trend without understanding the impact, we have to agree that it has brought the ALS disease into mainstream attention and hopefully opened doors for others to initiate such viral ideas that can help draw attention to many obscure diseases/causes/projects etc (take your pick here). I find it funny and hypocritical that people who would happily throw a gazillion “lolas”(water balloons) and dump buckets of water from their rooftop during Holi, complain about half a bucket of water and a packets of ice.

Similarly I see posts after posts by people about the aftermath of the "Largest Human Flag project". No one bothers that 35000+ people braved rain, muddy Tundikhel ground, fainting people, aching arms, thirst etc to achieve that. I brought my cards home, many didn't. But  WE have couch pundits who slept through that Saturday and share pictures undermining the effort(insane amount) of so many people who actually wanted to do something good!

I am pretty sure that even if we had collected all the cards( which was done later) people would have still complained and it would eventually be littered by peanuts shells, noodle packets etc by those people who hang around Tundikhel because lets be honest, we do lack Civic sense(no spitting in public and from moving buses, dispose of wrappers properly, you get the drift!)

Maybe its Evolution? You know, survival techniques honed over generations to see negativity in everything. Everyone is entitled to an opinion(this piece is also an opinion) but those very people who try nothing for themselves, forming ideas about everything else is not something that I find amusing.

I don't understand what it is, but I hope our couch pundits who stay in the warmth of their blankets, with a steaming cup of tea/coffee(or a stiff one for that matter) stop being so judgmental, stop wagging their fingers, but instead lift their hands to help, to support a cause and you know, stop being such a pain!

Time

Just ranting guys
You have been warned.

Don't you find it extremely surprising that we ALWAYS have time to do things we dislike/hate. Jobs for example, or homework, some stupid errand that our family members expect us to do, visiting insane relatives/friends who do nothing but find fault in you, who are not at all important to you.

On the other hand, we hardly seem to have time for things we love. Playing the guitar, just taking a stroll with a favorite person, reading a book, doing nothing, pursuing a hobby. In fact, if we all didn't have smartphone/mp3 players, we wouldn't have time even for our music.

We complain we are busy, get stressed, take medication as the hectic life takes it toll on our fragile bodies, distance ourselves from people we genuinely care about.

You get the drift.

I understand that the things we hate/dislike to do has to be done, or else it will be a source of constant stress for us again. But I have always wondered how calm our lives would be if we put in the same amount of effort to do things we like, than to do things we don't.
After all the easiest way for you to be sad is trying to please everyone no?
Putting your needs behind everyone else's?

I don't think it is fair that you burn yourself out just because you are hardworking and responsible.

Relax a little. Take some time off for yourself. Easier said than done, but hey , you don't know unless you try.
