The Seasons

See, I understand

the earth revolves

the sunlight 

slanting and straight

brings forth the season

the Summer,

warm and bright,

is essential for life.

the Monsoon,

though cold and wet

cleanses the earth,

nourishes the soil

and Autumn,

is a new beginning,

a change of fashion, maybe?

for the leaves and trees

that look the same every year.

But Winter?

what purpose it serves?

to make us shiver?

to send a chill down our spine?

to cover the land with snow and sleet?

to weigh us down with unnecessary 

and unfashionable clothes?

I know I can't change it,

nor avoid it.

but surely I can complain.
